Look, I’ll be honest, I’m not a film critic. More like a film enjoyer. And sometimes, a film nitpicker. And “My Fake Problems” is, uh, well, it’s a movie. A Spade movie. You know the drill: snarky humor, awkward situations, probably some hot people acting aloof. It is what it is.
But the WATCH, man! That’s where things get interesting. See, I’m a sucker for details. Wardrobe details, set design details, and especially, jewelry details. And in this movie, David Spade’s character – I can’t even remember his name, let’s just call him “Spade-But-More-Neurotic” – he’s rocking a pretty snazzy timepiece.
Now, I’ve scoured the internet (because that’s what I do, okay? Don’t judge), and nobody seems to be talking about it! It’s like, everyone’s too busy complaining about the plot (which, let’s be real, *is* kinda meandering) to notice the subtle wrist candy. I mean, c’mon people! Get your priorities straight!
So, what IS it? This is where my detective skills – honed from years of watching “Law & Order” reruns – kick in. My best guess? It’s either a really well-done, expensive-looking fake Rolex, or maybe something from a more obscure, but still classy, brand. I’m leaning towards the fake Rolex, though. Spade-But-More-Neurotic doesn’t exactly strike me as the type to drop 20 grand on a Daytona. No offense, Dave.
And that’s kinda the beauty of it, isn’t it? The watch, whether real or fake, adds to the character. It’s a subtle detail that speaks volumes. Like, “I’m trying to look successful, even though my life is a train wreck.” Which, let’s face it, is pretty much the theme of the movie.
